What is Driver CPC?
CPC stands for the Certificate of Professional Competence, and its main aim is to encourage high standards of driving and improve road safety. To obtain this qualification, candidates need to complete both theory and practical elements.
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) qualification is a legal requirement for anyone wanting to drive larger vehicles professionally or as part of a hire and reward service and is designed to enhance the existing knowledge and skills of drivers to ensure that they continue to be safe, courteous and drive in an environmentally friendly manner.

Thirty-five hours of periodic CPC training is required every five years to remain safe and compliant, with a fine of up to £1,000 available to those driving professionally without the proper CPC training. Showing the importance of keeping it up to date and ensuring you carry evidence of your Driver CPC status.

Qualifying License Types
Category C1
For vehicles between 3,500kgs and 7,500kgs with trailers up to 750kgs.
Category C
For vehicles in excess of 7,500kgs with trailers up to 750kgs.
Category C+E
For vehicles in excess of 7,500kgs with trailers over 750kgs.
Category D1
For a minibus of 9-16 seats max. If you passed your driving test before 1997 this category will already be on your license. If you passed after that date a full course and test is required.
Category D
For a full bus/coach license, enabling you to drive any sized passenger carrying Vehicle.
